Internet Config 2.0 introduces switchable preference sets. You can now create multiple independent preference sets within Internet Config. You might use this to host two different users on the same computer, or to represent two different locations for your PowerBook.
The Internet Config Set Location Manager Module (IC LMM) provides an interface between Internet Config and the Mac OS Location Manager. After installing Internet Config Set, you can add an Internet Config preferences set to your locations, and have Location Manager switch your IC settings when you switch locations.
The Location Manager is available on all computers that run Mac OS 8.1 or higher. Internet Config Set requires Location Manager 2.0.1 and higher, and will not work with earlier versions of Location Manager.
Installation and Use
Put the “Internet Config Set” file in the Location Manager Modules folder in the Extensions folder in your System Folder. Then restart your computer.
When you next launch the Location Manager control panel and open a location for editing, the Location Manager will give you the option of adding your current Internet Config set in to the location. Once you do that, Location Manager will automatically switch the IC set every time you switch to this location.
Notes and Caveats
Internet Config Set remembers the current set using its IC “profile ID” and its name. The profile ID takes precedence, so if you rename a set in IC, the location will still remember how to switch to that set.
Internet Config Set fully supports Location Manager’s Import and Export functionality. When you export a location containing an Internet Config set, the file will contain a copy of all the Internet Config preferences in that set. When you import the set, those preferences will be placed into an Internet Config preference set.
